Main Feedback Notes:
.Our Peer Review mentioned these thing we could improve on:
- Add an outline of each module in the course overview
- Make sure every learning outcome is addressed in an assessment
- Make the assessments more varied in their presentation. Ie. add more than just quizzes
- Add tutorials for the tools that we use in the course
- Make the presentation more exciting by adding more exciting visual design or multimedia components
- Suggested adding extra materials for continued reading in the bibliography.
What Feedback We Incorporated and Rationale:
Add an outline of each module in the course overview
We decided to implement this piece of advice because it gives a good overview of the course. As well, some students are more productive in a structured environment, so adding the outline can allow them to better anticipate what they will be working on.
Make sure every learning outcome is addressed in an assessment
This was always our intention when creating our learning module, but given the fact that separate team members wrote separate sections, some of our learning outcomes needed to be tweaked to fit the vision of the whole group, and some assessments needed to be changed as well.
Make the assessments more varied in their presentation. Ie. add more than just quizzes
We decided that adding more than just quizzes would be a good way to keep students engaged, assess the students more accurately, and to make sure that all the learning outcomes were being addressed.
Make the presentation more exciting by adding more exciting visual design or multimedia components
We didn’t feel this was entirely fair, as some of our lessons did already incorporate colorful youtube videos. But we decided that adding more flair could only serve to increase the engagement of our learning module.
Suggested adding extra materials for continued reading in the bibliography.
We have added a “Continued Reading” section where students eager to learn more about what we taught can find easy access to more materials, promoting curiosity and further learning.
What Feedback We Didn’t Incorporate and Rationale:
Add tutorials for the tools that we use in the course
We originally had planned on incorporating tools like wireshark into some of the lessons, but decided against it because it ultimately didn’t fit the scope of what we were trying to teach, and since our module was meant to be just a portion of a larger course, we felt it wasn’t necessary to teach in this module, we did however add it to our “Continued Reading” section.
